DIY: Lace & Stud Denim Shorts

Rummaging through my old winter clothes for this post, I found these old jeans. The legs were too big, there were way too many holes & they were out of fashion. But it’s Summer here soon so instead of throwing them away I decided to turn them into a pair of shorts I can get some wear out of!

Before:

After:

What you’ll need:

  • an old pair of jeans
  • lace
  • scissors
  • needle and thread
  • studs

Step 1: Lay the jeans flat & cut off the legs at your desired length, effectively making them shorts

Step 2: Cut a triangle shape from each side seam {the one on the outside thigh}

Step 3: Measure and cut your lace to fill the triangle shaped gap

Step 4: Pin your lace so it doesn’t move, then sew the lace into place

Step 5: Put your studs on.. wherever you want.

DIY: Studded Boots

I am naturally drawn to girly & feminine pieces. Gimmy bows, pink, sparkles & lace any day! So when my wardrobe is starting to look a little too Brady Bunch, I like to balance it out by injecting some hard-as-nails accessories into the mix…just ‘cos I can.

I got these from ASOS the other day. The perfect pair of casual black biker boots for $86.70. All leather, all black & just a little bit bland.

While studded boots have been on my radar for agggeeessss, they are not a trend I am willing to invest in & I didn’t want to ruin my new boots by covering them with studs only to change my mind in a weeks time. So, here at The Window Shopper, if we can’t buy we DIY! With some leftover studs from this DIY a few weeks back, I {un-perminantly} toughened up my new leather boots.

What you’ll need:

  • Boots (dah)
  • Studs (the same from this post)
  • A craft knife

What to do:

Step 1. Place your studs in the desired pattern you would like them to be in on your boots.

Step 2. Push the stud through the boot & split the prongs at the back so that they stay in place. You may need your craft knife to do this as they can be a little tricky.

Step 3. Repeat step 2 until you have finished your design.

Step 4. Put on your new kick-ass boots & go for a walk to show the world just what a great DIYer you are!

Easy right? The best thing about using these studs is that they are removeable so they are perfect for fickle fashion trends & commitment-phobes alike. I can simply remove them when my stud-moment is over.

Happy days.
