See It, Want It, DIY It: Banjo and Matilda’s Love Crew – A Valentines Day Special
I find that true creative genius strikes when you are up a certain creek without a paddle. Like today, I come home from work to realise it’s Valentines Day tomorrow & lo & behold I have nothing to wear.
That’s when Banjo & Matilda’s gorgeous cashmere jumper popped into my head. No, my version is not Banjo & Matilda & it’s not cashmere but its super cute, cost next to nothing & is the perfect last-minute Valentines Day outfit.
What you’ll need:
- A jumper
- Scrap fabric {preferably in red or pink.. workin’ with the love theme here}
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Paper
- Pins
- Double sided fabric tape, or needle & thread {depending on just how permanent you want your heart to be}
How it works:
1) Lay your jumper flat. Sketch your heart onto the paper laid on top of your jumper.
2) Cut out your heart & pin it to your scrap fabric. Cut it out again.
3) Use double-sided fabric tape to stick your heart onto your jumper. If you want your heart to last more than the night, feel free to either hand sew it in place, or use a machine if you are that way inclined.
Voila, now to sit & wish for my very own Banjo & Matilda jumper.

Shoes for Petite Gals
It isn’t often I have a wonderful shopping experience, snooty sales assistants, crowds, inflated prices & a lack of sizes often get the best of me & I return home feeling defeated by the retail monster. So when I have a better-than-usual shopping experience, I wanna tell the world.
Thanks to my Grandma & Mum, I have tiny feet, tiny as in the only chain stores I can get shoes from are children’s stores!
Don’t get me wrong, there are some beautiful grown-up shoes out there in a size 4, but only luxury brands seem to stock them.
So while I save up for my Louboutins, a girl can’t just strut about town bare-foot now can she? It is because of this that sometimes I give in & buy shoes of less-than-desirable quality simply because I need something to prevent my feet from the harsh city terrain & to prevent passers-by from questioning my sanity.
You can imagine my delight when one Saturday afternoon I stumbled into my local Betts Kids store & realised their size 4 fits juuuuuust right!
I almost passed out when I realised the ruby-red grandpa slippers I had tried on were only $19.95…. & so were the black leather-look ankle boots!!
Needless to say I purchased these shoes without hesitation & the sales assistant helpfully let me know that Wittner sometimes stock a 4 as well.
I walked into Wittner, who were conveniently located directly across from Betts Kids, still giddy after purchasing my shiny new shoes & picked up a pair of berry coloured suede ankle boots in a size 4, from the sale rack.
The LAST pair, in MY size & on SALE.
Buy my Wittner Cookies ($99) from here, and my Betts Kids Tuscon boots ($19.95) from here & the Sheba slippers ($19.95) from here.
The shopping Gods were smiling upon me that day my friends.
Ever had a super shopping experience?
Maxi’s & Fur
Who says you’re too old to play dress ups?
So lately I have been surviving off a diet of butter menthols, mac & cheese & unhealthy doses of cold & flu drugs and multi vitamins. You guessed it, I’m sick & slopping around the house in my pyjamas can get a tad depressing.
Enter this outfit!
Chunky jewels, flowing maxi dress & a layer of fur = the ultimate pick me up!
