Listomania
I love lists.
I think it is because I am naturally quite an anxious person, so list making & schedule creating are essential for me to feel like I am getting shit done. Which is probably the best feeling ever. moving on. During the week I am in 100% work/uni mode, so by the time the weekend rolls around I am more than ready to kick up my feet, relax & do a few things I wouldn’t otherwise have the time for. I realise that there are only two precious days for me to take advantage of so the idealist in me will sit down & write a huge list of what I want to do over the weekend. The list typically looks something like this…

After the list is written I then spend the next two days organising, shuffling, prioritising & then organising the list again until I relise it is Sunday night & I have work the next morning. Then my list ends up looking more like the one below & I have a mini melt down which requires my significant other to sit me down & convince me that in fact, no, my world is not ending.

The sad thing is I willingly participate in this strange cycle of events every.freakin.weekend which leaves me disappointed because I have crossed nothing off my list as well as feeling like I have had my ass kicked all weekend instead of relaxed & ready for the week ahead.
So this weekend I tried something new. I haven’t written a list {okay, maybe one, but it was for groceries so it doesn’t count} & I still managed to survive my weekend, & surprisingly, I got more done than I had anticipated.
So while I recognise that more often than not lists are good, but when it comes to relaxing I really don’t need a schedule.
So here is to living life a little less complicated.
